Press Release. October 15, 2008. WORLD FOODLESS DAY AND INTERNATIONAL RURAL WOMEN’S DAY STOP THE RAPE AND TRAFFICKING OF INDIGENOUS AND RURAL WOMEN IN MALAYSIA. RESPECT THE RIGHTS TO LAND AND LIVELIHOOD AND FOOD SECURITY OF PEOPLE. Today the world remembers in a special way, international rural women’s day. Rural women, both globally and in Malaysia are the most marginalized, poorest and exploited group. Yet, they contribute to 60% of the labor and tasks involved in agriculture production. The rural woman remains invisible and isolated as she is seen as an informal agriculture worker or as part of the collective family labor. |
